Riqi Harawira

New Zealand

Maori fusion artist, singer-songwriter, lead guitarist Riqi Harawira hails from Ahipara in the far north of Aotearoa NZ.  His tribal affiliations are Ngapuhi, Te Aupouri and Te Rarawa.

Riqis music is Maori fusion, a blend of  Te reo, Rock, reggae and Maori Mantra.

A survivor of state care. Music is his Rongoa (medicine) and his way of healing and giving back. Riqi is an advocate for recovery having battled with  addiction himself. His Kaupapa (purpose) through music and the campaigns he supports are about breaking the chains, rewriting the narrative & finding the tools to rise up through the guidelines of his Maoritanga (culture).

Using the high energy of his Maori fusion music as a vehicle to travel and share his matauranga Maori workshops and play inspiring performances spreading messages of recovery, redemption, hope and self determination.
